STEP-IN is a Slovak Civic Association, originally founded in 2015 by the Saint Elizabeth University of Health Care and Social Sciences, and re-established as an independent organisation in 2017 by our three founding members – Dr Zuzana Ulman, Przemek Ulman, and Dr Matej Palencar.
STEP-IN provides medical humanitarian aid and quality primary healthcare to those who need it most. We advocate for solidarity and global citizenship, uniting individuals and communities to strive towards better sustainable futures. We operate on the ground through grass-root change and avoid ‘quick-fix’ aid by working for and alongside affected communities to build long-lasting solutions.
STEP-IN currently maintains a staff of 61 rotational employees, including 10 doctors, 38 health professionals (inc. nurses, lab technicians, pharmacists, and community health workers, and 13 non-medical personnel).
